HOOC Connect M

Interfaces and controls

The configuration of the HOOC Gateways (M series) can be done via browser.

By default, the device has the IP address on port 2.

Establish connection to the HOOC Gateway

Follow the instructions below to connect (your PC) to the HOOC Gateway:

  1. Insert the SIM card (optional)
  2. Connect the HOOC Gateway to the power supply
  3. Connect your PC to the network port 2 of the HOOC Gateway
  4. Wait until the device has started up (approx. 1min)
  5. In your browser (use Google Chrome), open the URL

If the connection cannot be established, check the IP settings.

Configuration mode

Enter configuration mode

The configuration mode can be activated by pressing the reset button briefly (1 sec).

from Remote

The configuration mode can be activated remotely with the HOOC App. The activation code of a HOOC Gateway can be generated either in the sites overview or in the menu “Secure Remote Access”.

The generated code can now be used to activate the configuration mode.

If the configuration mode is active, the status LED (red) lights up continuously.

Exit configuration mode

The configuration mode can be deactivated by pressing the Leave configuration mode item, or it automatically dactivates 30 seconds after disconnecting from the configuration page.

If the configuration mode is inactive, the status LED (red) does not light up continuously.

Apply configuration

Once new settings have been made, they can be transferred to the HOOC Gateway by clicking on the Apply changes element.

If changes are made to the LAN network, make sure that you remeber to use the the new IP address set for network port 2 as the URL for further configuration.

Configuration Mobile Network

Minimize traffic

When Activate this option, the data traffic is reduced depending on the following table.

Option SERA activated Option Internet-access for LAN devices Data traffic
Data traffic is minimized if the standby mode is activated.
Data traffic not minimized because SERA is used
Data traffic is minimized, if no device in the LAN using internet data
Data traffic is minimized

If the inserted SIM card requires a pin, this must be stored here.

If the SIM PIN is not correct, it will be reset once. In case of repeated incorrect entries, the SIM card can be locked and must be unlocked with another device.

APN configuration

The HOOC Connect Gateway reads the APN configuration from the SIM card and fills it into the corresponding fields. If this is not the case or if a specific APN is used, the settings can be made here.

Configuration Network port 1

The network port 1 by default si defined as WAN port and receives an IP address via DHCP. If required, this IP address can be defined statically. When used as a WAN port, the Internet traffic is sent via this interface, even if there is a mobile data connection.

When the WAN function is disabled, network port 1 acts as additional LAN network port (switch functionality with network port 2).

Configuration LAN

The network port 2 is always in the LAN network. The gateway address of the LAN network can be entered in the “IP Address “ field.

The DHCP server in the LAN network is activated onby default and distributes addresses in the range 100-250.

Configuration Wi-Fi

The WiFi can be used as an access point for the LAN network. The password corresponds to the serial number of the gateway and by default it is switched off.

WiFi can be turned on and off by pressing the WiFi button (front panel device) briefly when the device is not in configuration mode.

The Wi-Fi module provides an access point. The access point uses the LAN network. The password is the same as the serial number of the gateway at delivery and is turned on.

The Wi-Fi access point can be turned on and off by briefly pressing the Wi-Fi button (front panel device), if the device is not in configuration mode and the “WiFi enabled” option is set.

Furthermore, the Wi-Fi module (from firmware 3.0.0) offers the possibility to use a Wi-Fi client. Thus the connection to the Internet can also be made via Wi-Fi.

The Wi-Fi module provides only one channel. If you are using the Wi-Fi client and it is not to the configured SSID (network), the Wi-Fi access point will not work either.

SERA Settings

SERA can be activated or deactivated here.

The connection to the HOOC-Cloud can be enabled or disabled. Further, when you switch on the Option “SERA connection monitoring activated “ monitors the connection to the HOOC-Cloud. If more than 4 hours no connection to the HOOC-Cloud can be established, the device is restarted.

Deactivating will prevent the HOOC Gateway to connect to the HOOC Cloud and the services of HOOC will no longer be usable.

The command to activate or deactivate SERA can also be given by means of an encrypted SMS message.

Security Settings

The setting “nternet-access allowed for LAN devices” allows you to allow connections from devices from the LAN network to the Internet.

When the “Accept SMS commands” is deactivated SERA can NOT be reactivated via encrypted SMS message!

When deactivating the setting “Allow enter config mode by pressing reset button”, the configuration mode cannot be more can be activated with the reset button (local). The activation of the configuration mode can only be done with an activation code take place. Thus, persons without access authorization to the site cannot reconfigure the device.
